Q: Why do 99.2% New Year's resolutions either fail or fall short?
A: Because discipline--the practice of forcing ourselves to do things we don't want to do--is not sustainable. Every action has an opposite reaction, and the act of self-coercion eventually leads to inner rebellion, resistance and reversion back to the norm. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
Fortunately there's a better way: Discernment. This is the secret practice and mastery path that the successful 1% leverages to thrive without the stress, cynicism and exhaustion that plagues the self-punishing masses.
