To become a great visionary we must undergo three transformations, said Frederich Nietzsche. As children, we turn into a camel. “Put a load on me!” we say. The authorities of our youth gladly oblige, piling up as much baggage as our humps can handle. Once we’ve had enough, we follow our inner voice out into the desert to undergo the second great metamorphosis.
In the desert we turn into a lion. The larger the load we shouldered during our camel days, the bigger and stronger we are in lion form. Our new mission: slay “Thou Shalt.” This huge fire-breathing beast has thousands of scales, each with a different rule, social norm or belief inscribed upon it. To earn the third transformation, we must slay the dragon to set ourselves free.
Thus begins the epic battle that determines our destiny. If we make it through this final rite of passage, we transcend the laws of ordinary social gravity to become a force of nature. Liberated from a lifetime of false limitations, we unleash an inner well exuberance that makes us unstoppable. In the final transformation, we become a child.
In the summer of 2012, the Voice Code emerged after two decades of research to find the natural laws that govern human thinking. This discovery unifies more than a century of social research and shows the natural basis for the seemingly supernatural powers of dragon slaying visionaries. In my upcoming book “The Voice Code: How to Be a Force of Nature,” I turn this equation into a 21st Century hero’s journey using Nietzsche’s parable to frame the quest.
According to Nietzsche, our innocent minds must first get frame locked by a lifetime of social programming. Once we’ve achieved maximum ego density we must then “become a lion” by slaying the limiting beliefs that keep us from knowing our true nature. In so doing we remember our innocence, reclaim our birthright, and become a visionary force in a world of weary camels. The new Voice Code map suggests that Nietzsche’s thinking was 100% correct.
The Voice Code emerged from studying the evolution of human thinking. By deciphering the natural laws that governed the developmental path for an 8-stage model first discovered by researcher Clare W. Graves, we were able to complete the entire story from start to finish. As it so happens, there are 12 stages (worldviews) that come together to tell the entire tale of human consciousness from the womb to the highest stages of enlightenment.
Most models of adult development view evolution as a ladder reaching forever upward into the hazy clouds. In keeping with Nietzsche’s parable, the Voice Code reveals a circle. The easiest way to grasp this new developmental map is as a journey up and over a steep mountain with 12 base camps along the way.
The first 6 stages (Phase I) are about learning to survive. These stages involve climbing up against massive resistance as our ego identity develops and becomes fused with beliefs programmed into us by external authorities. The next 6 stages (Phase II) are about unlearning to thrive. These stages involve transmuting all limiting Phase I beliefs as we align with natural laws that govern all human experience to achieve total freedom from the inside out.
Starting out as an unconscious innocent in the womb (stage 1), we develop into responsible well socialized adults (stage 6 Achiever). But sooner or later life calls us to seriously question the truth of our personal reality. Feeling the pull of something larger, we then shift into Phase II. Starting with stage 7 (Explorer), we now embark on an epic journey through which we unlearn all limitations to thrive without compromise in the service of life. When we reach stage 12 (Master) we have recaptured our timeless innocence to become fully self actualized beings, at one with life in every moment.
Because this developmental pattern is rooted in natural laws, it plays out in human systems on every level–from the lifespan development of individuals to the evolution of mankind as a whole. The trickiest part of this epic journey is the one our world is now navigating: the midpoint shift from stage 6 (end of Phase I) to stage 7 (start of Phase II). At this critical juncture, after a lifetime of outside in thinking, we are challenged to completely reverse our mental models of cause and effect. Sensing the impending death of everything we once believed to be true, we often resist until the pain of not changing becomes unbearable.
Our core Phase II challenge is to reclaim our power by unlearning old Phase I belief habits that have us frame “authority” as external. In practice, this requires that we take many leaps of faith that feel scary when viewed from the Phase I mindset. To avoid the discomfort, many of us delay the decision until the last possible moment. But sooner or later, the inner call of nature wins and our new Phase II adventure begins.
When we finally embrace Phase II, life gets much simpler. The fears and insecurities that plagued us during Phase I gradually dissolve as a sense of curious wonder and inspiration lights our path. Each step forward takes us closer to the life we always wanted but dismissed as unrealistic during the uphill struggle of Phase I. As we learn to follow our inner Voice above the voice of convention, layer upon layer of false limitations melt away and we begin to embody more and more of our true power. By the time we reach stage 9 (Visionary), we have discovered our life’s purpose and are infused with an almost otherworldly passion to bring our gifts to the world.
This is when the real fun begins.
My Phase II mission is to give you proper tools and training to navigate this transition with grace and ease. Over the past three plus years we’ve designed and battle tested a potent suite of visionary training tools that make dragon slaying practical, efficient and engaging. As we release these tools into the marketplace, I hope that you will use them to unleash your lionhearted nature as you produce a life of shared thriving in today’s polarized world.
This all sounds quite incredible, doesn’t it? If you find it hard to believe, I don’t blame you. Fortunately, the truth is not a matter of opinion. Either this paradigm works or it doesn’t. I could now regale you with many case studies of ordinary people who have produced extraordinary results using Voice Code tools. But until you gain first hand evidence, you will still have doubts.
So be it. Here’s the simple truth, believe it or not:
When you follow your Voice, you are a force of nature.
From behind the cloud cover of past learning, your Voice speaks with unwavering conviction of who you are and what your mission must be. It does this in steps that work with you, showing you through increasingly exhilarating insights, epiphanies and revelations the specific instrument you were designed to play in the grand symphony of life. But you are the decision maker. Until you make a choice, nothing changes.
So choose again. I will show you why my confidence in you has not been misplaced. The map is here. The path is clear. The only barrier is belief.
